New Cousin!!!

Hey all,
I just got this from my Dad, who has discovered a new Eckling. I have attached his email, followed by her email. I am inviting her to join the ecklings blog. I have her email and phone - didn't want to post them on an open blog - and hopefully we can bring her into our family.
If you want her contact info, email me - or post advice in the comments section here, hopefully she will be on here soon!

I received this e-mail from Jessica Bolen who is the daughter of my cousin Barbie. Barbie is the youngest daughter of Bob and Ellen Eck, Bob being Grandma Eck's fourth son. I talked to Jessica on Sunday night and she was delightful. Sounded just like all of the cousins. I told her that i would like to post her e-mail or at least her information on the ecklings blog and she seemed excited about having al of this distant family. Like Sue and I, her mother got married right after college and moved west so she was raised far away from the rest of her family. Can someone post this or at least teach me how?
Dad

Hi Rick,

My name is Jessica Bolen and I am your cousin Barb's daughter. I currently live in New York City where I teach English as a Second Language to elementary school children in East Harlem. I studied psychology as an undergraduate in Colorado and wanted to try teaching for a while as a change of pace. Through this experience, I have realized how much I miss working with people in more of a therapeutic setting. I'm writing because I understand that you and your wife both received a PhD in psychology, and I am currently in the process of trying to decide whether I want to go down the PhD path myself.

I spent the last few months getting certified to teach yoga, and I now know that I want to combine yoga and psychology in some way. Ultimately, I would like to offer yoga as a form of therapy to special populations (especially disadvantaged youth, individuals with disabilities, and teenagers/women with body-image issues). I can immediately start teaching yoga to these populations of people, but I want to go back to school so that I can learn more about how to serve these populations in a more traditional therapeutic setting as well.

Ideally, I would like to go back to school in the fall of 2010, but at this point, I find myself overwhelmed by all the options (counseling, general psychology, social work, clinical psychology, MA, PhD, MSW???) and would truly appreciate a perspective from someone who works in the field. I would love to talk to you and/or your wife over the phone if you have the time in the coming weeks, but if email is more convenient, I am obviously open to that!

Thanks so much, and I hope to hear from you soon, especially since my mom tells me that you were her favorite cousin :)

Much love,
Jess

Hello everybody! It's so nice to meet you all! As my e-mail explains, I'm Jessica (Jess) and I currently live in Manhattan, although I was raised in Littleton, Colorado. Thanks for inviting me into such a large and well-connected family circle. If anyone is living in or planning a trip to NYC, let me know! I'd love to meet you!

Welcome, Jess! With this family, the more the merrier (until it gets so loud the world implodes). :) On behalf of the Schafer part of the family, we'd love to meet/host you if you ever come south! (NC, SC, or Georgia)

Welcome! Jeff and I are in NYC, well Brooklyn to be exact, and would love to meet up. And, as you will notice, from the previous post - and I quote - "Jenny and Jeff are awesome!" (Lori is awesome, too but is in DC.)

I hope this isn't creepy, but I just looked up your DOE email...so will send you an email so we can meet up sometime!
