I watched the first quarter, skipped the 2nd and 3rd before coming home, walked in, turned on the TV, and the scoring began again... don't think I missed much in the middle...
And the best part?
Q: Who coached the last two Super Bowl MVPs in college??? A: Coach Cutcliffe, Duke's new coach! Maybe there's hope for us yet!
Oh, dude I totally forgot that Cutcliffe coached the Mannings! Sweet!
So, true story: as the game winds down, Dad and I are on the phone, shouting at each other. As there's one second left on the clock and they were trying to clear the field so they could take the final snap, they kept showing pictures of the Giants players throwing on the hats and the shirts proclaiming them champions. So Mom starts going, "Wow, they sure made those hats QUICKLY!!!!"
ok, one, that is as mom would say, "HYSTERICAL!!!!" that she asked that about the hats and shirts. was she serious??
two, is everyone in our family a giants fan? how come everyone cares so much? did I just entirely miss the sports-giving-a-crap gene?
three, Ali, here's the answer to your question: http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/04/sports/superbowl.php
4, way to go Ken! I'm coming to you for help doing my NCAA bracket this year! (do you do basketball too?)
Lisa and I were watching the superbowl, talked through the first half, watched Tom Petty, realized we were were dvr-ing it and were an hour behind accidentally, fast forwarded to the last two minutes, were impressed at the play that was exciting enough to hold even my attention, then called it a night.
Yes, mom was totally serious about the hats and shirts - she had no idea how they had made an entire team's worth of shirts in 39 seconds. it was SO funny.
I don't know if I would say you've missed the "giving a crap about sports gene" as much as I would say you inherited the "I don't give a crap about sports" gene. There's an argument to be made for both sides.
For the record, I have always been a Giants fan. So has Lori and Dad.
I think the way you guys watched the game was absolutely hilarious.

What do they do with all the t-shirts and hats that incorrectly state the champion for all these events?
Ken won 80 bucks in the football pool at work for correctly guessing the score at the half and third quarter. In all it was a great game!
