The Walking Wounded

Desi has a cast! And he is NOT happy about it. The funny thing is he wasn't limping before the cast but now that he has a cast, he's jump-hobbling around like a little three-legged bunny.

he hurt it playing basketball.

no, he's got a cut underneath the pads and it got infected. When you look at the bottom of the foot you can't see it, but he kept chewing on it, and when I would look at it it was red. which apparently was because it was BLEEDING. yeah, I am the worst mother ever.

He spent most of the weekend looking at me forlornly because I wouldn't let him lick the bandages.

That is so sad. Apple used to get cuts on her feet hiking with Holly so she bought her booties!

Actually, we bought her booties because the Vet told us to. I kept missing the cuts on her paws as well. The vet told us she had "pretty pretty princess paws." As for the limping, when we had to have Apple's toenail cut off, Katie and I were watching her out in the backyard. We had all this sympathy for the poor injured limping puppy who was casted to her armpit... until Apple saw a squirrel, and chased it around the yard with 4 on the floor. She turned and saw us and suddenly started limping again. Poor little faker puppy.

HAHAHA!!! Apple is not what I think of when I think: Pretty pretty princess. hahaha.

Yeah, Desi is milking it too - everytime I chastize him for licking the cast he looks at me so pitifully.

Of course the times where it's actually affecting him, like the four times that he's tripped up the stairs, and the couple times he fell off the bed when he's jumping up, or my favorite, where he wiped out after tripping on a chew toy, he gets really embarrassed and hides.

Yes Kimi, I have a neurotic dog.

I know you do, but I love my nephew-puppy! I can't believe his mother stopped being neurotic just when he actually was having a problem. My poor little Desmo!
